Nature Hike on Nature Island

We had a great time hiking right next to campus on Friday!  It was a school trip, so we were looking for signs of erosion and the kids had assignments to complete.  We also took in some great sites and saw some new plants and animals.

At the start of the hike - Miles' friends holding hands - too cute!
Elijah & his buddy were watching videos on the iPad while hiking...so easily bored!

I think this is guava

Star fruit - a lot of kids ate this on the spot
This shelter was a great rest/snack spot!  Speakers were blaring gospel reggae
Miles getting some of his assignment done during snack break

View from the shelter - we've made it about half-way up the mountain and have a view of the Caribbean Sea!
We didn't venture onto the National Trail, but found a trail head here

Everyone gathered around to see this crab cross our trail
Mr. Theo picked him up and we discovered... babys!!
Miles along the roaring rapids
Water was flowing a little too fast for a swim as planned, so we ended up going to the pool after the hike instead
We came across a goat farm and these guys let the kids pet the goats

New construction.  This home is massive and has a beautiful veiw - near the top of the mountain

Miles was excited to see some dogs at this home on the way down
